1. Finding a Job[]

This is probably the easiest thing in the game to do. After creating your new coach you will be taken to the pigskinempire homepage. If you already know of a team you would like to go to you hover over coach administration on the navigation bar and then click job search. You then decide and select what position you would like (Offensive coordinator, Defensive coordinator, Special teams coordinator, or Head coach). If the position is open click on the "apply for job" button. You can apply to multiple teams. When applying at a team that has a CPU Head Coach you will receive a contract almost immediately, depending on your coaches attributes and the position you are applying for. If you would like to apply to a pro team as head coach you will have to have a 10 reputation bar. If the team has a Human Head Coach, then he must review it and determine if he wants to send a contract. this is wrong...............jk

Another big help is to goto the chat room HERE and ask other coaches if they have an opening/and or willing to show you the ropes.

2. Managing the Roster[]

Managing your roster is essential to running any team. You are allowed a 53 man active roster and 8 scout team players. After that once a player is removed from the scout team they can not go back on nor can any other player. There are four options in total for the Roster Status; Active - player is available to play in games and practice, Scout Team - player may practice with the team but can not play in games this option is only available during the first four days of the preseason, Injured Reserve - player can not practice nor can he play in games this option is only available after the 4th day of the preseason, Waive - player will be cut from the team once clicking "Update". To make the desired changes hover over the roster administration button on the navigation menu then click edit roster. After this click on the status button for the player you would like to waive and select waive. Now the player has been removed!

From left to right you have Players Name | Players Position | Number of Years in the League | Roster Position | Evaluation | Year last Evaled | Current Status | Cap Hit

The other part of managing the roster is setting the depth chart. One thing you will want to remember when doing this is that some players can play other positions. This is covered in the practice section of this guide under Evaluations. To update the depth chart Hover over the roster administration button on the navigation menu then proceed to click depth chart. from there you will need to select the position you wish to change (if you are a coordinator you may have restrictions that will not allow you to change players not associated to your job title) the select the slot you wish to modify and then select update. You must update that position before moving to the next or it will not update. You have to go one at a time. To change a players position you will need to add them to the depth chart in that desired position before the Roster Deadline. The positions will be updated upon rollover.

3. Free Agent Signing[]

There are two phases of free agent signing. You have the free agent signing period of which starts the 1st of every month and ends the 3rd, or the basic free agent period through the season. The Free Agent Signing Period is the best time to find talent that have been released from teams or their contract has expired. This is also the time to check out those undrafted rookies. You will need to scout the FA's before being able to see what they evaluate at. To do this you would need to hover over the roster administration button and then click free agents. From this point simply click the free agent you would like to sign and edit the contract info. To send an offer click on the green dollar amount in the Current Offers column. This will pull up the contract window, simply chose the length of the contract and the dollar amount and select "Offer". During the FA Singing period at the start of the season the player will accept offers at rollover (12am Central time). Highest offer is not the only thing looked at the player also looks at other criteria. The exact criteria is not known. If sending the offer outside of this FA Period the player will accept immediately.

4. Conducting a Trade[]

Working trades is one of the fun aspects to the game. Nothing feels better than having your franchise make a blockbuster deal to move up in the draft or bring in that star player. To conduct a trade (if you are coordinator you may have restrictions not allowing you to trade) you will need to hover over the roster administration button and select Trade Block. From there you will select your team and then either a player or pick or combination from your team and add them to the trade. Then select the team you would like to deal with select a player or pick or combination from that team and add them to the trade. Once the deal is where you would like it click submit, Once submitted the other team will receive a message stating they have a trade offer. They will either accept or decline the trade. If accepted an alert will be sent to all the Head Coaches in the Pros and it will be reviewed and they will vote to block or approve the trade. This is to prevent cheating. For a trade to go through it will need more approve votes than block votes abstain votes have no effect on the trade. Trades are processed approximately two hours after both dealing teams accept. This is what a trade block with votes looks like. The Trade deadline is the 11th of every month. Trades open back up after the pro bowl (about the 24th of every month)

5. Creating Plays[]

Creating plays one of the greatest things about PSE. To create a play you must hover over the team administration button and then click the playbook. This is where you will create new plays and activate created plays To create a play start by selecting the desired formation then at the bottom of the listed plays select "Create New Play" Before doing any of this make sure you have time left to even save the play, the last thing you want to do is spend an hour making this awesome play that you can't even save. It costs 6 hours to create a new play. Creating plays take a little bit to get used too. The buttons are labeled so just roll the mouse over them to see what they are. Handoffs are all about timing and will take some work to get them right. The timing changes with the difference in speeds with the QB's and RB's a failed handoff equals a QB keeper.

To activate a play you will need to practice it five times and then go to the playbook and select the formation of the new play and then click the green plus sign which activates the play this will also show you how many times you have practiced it. It is best to film the practice so you can see what needs to be changed to fix any problems. To edit the play go to the Playbook select the formation of the new play and click on the desired play make the changes. It cost two hours to edit a play.

6. Running Practices[]

There are eight different practice types; Evaluate, Private FA Workout, Offensive Play, Defensive Play, Kickoff, Punt, Drill, Matchup, and Scrimmage. To select a practice hover over the team administration button on the navigation menu and then select practice. From there you can select what you would like to practice and develop your team!

Drill:[]

This practice has four options with it; Run Blocking, Pass Blocking, Zone Coverage, and Pass Accuracy.
Some players may receive a temporary stat boost that will be used for the next game, as well as impact the boost received at the end of the season. Though the boost will not be alot and wont impact your player development as much as Off/def practices or matchups will. I don't recommend doing anymore drills than required for the milestone.

Matchup:[]

This practice is ran to run a specific offensive play -vs- a specific defensive play. You can scout another team and use there plays to practice against (scouting other pro teams is covered in Chapter 10 of this guide) . This practice will be ran 10 times. Some players may receive a temporary stat boost that will be used for the next game, as well as impact the boost received at the end of the season. If the practice was filmed you may view the film by going to the practice screen and finding the play you want and then clicking the TV icon next to the desired practice This practice cost 6hrs to run and can be filmed for an extra 2hrs and $500.

7. Setting a Gameplan[]

If you are unable to call plays live (covered in the next chapter of this guide) it is very beneficial to have a gameplan in place to call a solid game for you while you are gone. The success of the gameplan heavily leans on how well your created plays are setup (normal, short, medium, long, desperation). This may take some time to get the feel of but it is learnable. To set and adjust the gameplan hover over the "team administration button and then click gameplan . From there you can select either offense or defense and the desired situation. This will pull up the plays that fall under your desired situation. You can move the slider to adjust the frequency of the play call. Twenty being called heavy and zero being nearly not at all. Once you have your frequencies set select "Update" and your good to go. Adjust as needed.

8. Live Play Calling[]

Live play calling is what makes PSE great. Once you have the opportunity to call plays live you will never be the same. Whenever you log in to your account on your homepage at the gametime there should be a green button that says "Game in progress" right in the middle. Click that and viola The game will automatically start with the opening kickoff. To get it to it's current click on the live button and then the Play Calling Tab. . It is best to have an idea of what you want to call before the next play comes up as you only have at the most 7 seconds to pick a play. It may take some time to get in rhythm with the speed of the game but once you catch on you will love it.

9. Scouting other Pro Teams[]

Scouting other pro teams allows you to practice their plays that following week (1 real life day). To scout another team you will need to travel to the city of the desired team. There you will find a pair of binoculars located near their helmet (if you dont see it just double left click on the map to zoom out till you can see it). Clicking on the binoculars will pull up the home games for that team. Selecting a game will pull up a new page from there you can select scout. Important you will want to copy that link to your team forum and post it in your "Updates" thread. This will make it very easy to pull back up and review after the game has played. If you do not do this it is near impossible to find. Outside of practicing against the other teams plays you can also find out if any other coaches attended that game (good to see for your own games so you know if people are watching you and alter your play calling to not give away any secrets), and play call breakdown. You do not have to attend your own games for this information. Just click your calender in your office and the desired game. (Calendar is broken). When you scout the other team you must copy the link and then PM it to yourself or other coaches on your team.

10. Scouting Draft Prospects[]

The draft is another fun aspect of PSE, but a lot of work is needed to come away with the best draft class. It all starts with scouting college players. To do this you will need to travel to the city of the desired team and click on there helmet and then the name of the team. This will pull up there info page. Click on the scout button in the right box. This is the same as you would eval your own team. Find out as much as you can and check them at other positions. If you see a player you like click the "ADD" button next to their name. This will add them to your draft board. The more player you scout the deeper your draft board can be. Depending on the stats of your coach you may need to eval them a couple times to get a good reading of what they are at. You can also scout draft prospects at the combine. The combine is held in Indianapolis every year. You will need to travel there and scout the players (currently there is a glitch where you just have to zoom way out on the map and the binoculars will just show up, should be fixed soon though). Once in Indy click on the large binoculars then EFL Combine. Not all draft eligible players are at the combine so don't make it your only source of info. If you see a player you like click the "ADD" button next to there name to add them to your draft board. ==

11. Setting a Draft Board[]

The draft board is very important as that is what the CPU goes off of on draft day. If you are not online you will want this set up properly so you dont end up with 6 players of the same position. To access the draft board (starting from your office or hotel) click on Clipboard > Draft board. The draft board is a drag and drop to move someone up or down simply click on their name and move them where you want. Dont forget to save after editing. To add someone to your board there are a couple search features you can use. You can search by name, position, or school. When you find someone you like just drag them onto your board. That is one side of the draft board the other is the draft guide. The draft guide is key to not having a position over drafted. The draft guide shows you the breakdown of your roster. At the bottom of the page you can select a position and set the min and max for that position.

12. Drafting[]

Draft day, where franchises are built. Draft day is held the 27th and 28th of every month. Rounds 1-3 are on day 1 and drafting starts at 7c/8e while Rounds 4-6 are on day 2 and drafting starts at 11c/12e. Draft day has a lot of excitement and always has a lot of chatter going on in the Chat Room so don't forget to stop in there. On draft day you will want to have a couple tabs open in your browser for ease of use. Tab1 you will want the draft selection page (Computer > Pro > Draft > Year > Round) just refresh it to see where it is at Day one picks are 5min and day 2 is 2min. Tab2 you will want your draft board this way you can move players up and down as needed. Don't forget to click update after any editing to the board. Tab3 you will want the PSE Forum so you can see if anything interesting is being posted, mainly trade stuff but entertainment is always needed. Tab4 you will want the PSE Chat. This is where a lot of people will be at (we had 6-7 for the 2012 draft). You will want this up so you can see what players are being talked about and see if any trade requests are being tossed around. The first day is very fun and has the most action. Nothing better than rejoicing or crying over your first round picks and late round steals. ==

13. Signing Draft Picks[]

Signing draft picks actually happens after the seasons rollover. The first of every month starts a new season. To sign your picks go to Clipboard > Free Agents > My Players. From there you can send an offer. Once they accept (immediately) they will be added to your roster.
